Matthew Burke is a Chartered Structural Engineer and one of Australia’s leading specialists in mass timber design, with over a decade of experience delivering complex projects across the commercial, industrial, education, and residential sectors.

He is widely regarded as a leading practitioner in mass timber engineering and for playing a pivotal role in advancing Australia’s timber construction capability. He has contributed to the structural design and delivery of many of Australia’s most prominent timber projects. His international and contractor-side experience provides a unique perspective across all stages of project delivery.
Matthew’s expertise extends across reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, large-scale industrial facilities, tension membrane structures and temporary works design. Known for his collaborative approach, he builds strong client relationships and ensures structural solutions align seamlessly with project vision and commercial objectives. An active contributor to Engineers Australia and the Property Council of Australia, Matthew also lectures at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Newcastle, sharing insights that shape the future of sustainable structural engineering.
